The Multidisciplinary Commission on Severe Asthma of the Ramón y Cajal Hospital is made up of the services of Allergology, Hospital Pharmacy, Immunology, Pneumology, Otorhinolaryngology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Clinical Psychology of the center, meeting the specific needs of patients (children and adults) who present with chronic symptoms of severe asthma, who require a rigorous, systematic and individualized assessment. The development and use of specific biological drugs requires a structured and multidisciplinary approach to patients.

This integrated care approach aims for excellence in the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients suffering from severe asthma, from childhood to adulthood. The severe asthma unit It has a character of care, as well as teaching with the residents of the different specialties assigned to it and with the holding of clinical sessions, but it also has a very important research aspect, seeking the optimization and humanization of care processes carried out. .

Regarding research, the Severe Asthma Unit of Ramón y Cajal University Hospital recently published an article describing the ASfarMA project, whose objective is the optimization of care for patients suffering from severe asthma, -the publication had their active participation- in the prestigious European Journal of Hospital Pharmacy.
