The investigation into the Timur Ivanov case will present charges of organizing an organized crime group

Preliminary investigation authorities may add charges of organization and participation in an organized criminal community (OCC) to the case of former Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov. This is reported by TASS citing a law enforcement source.

“The formulation of the accusation within the framework of the criminal investigation against Ivanov and other accomplices of the crime, according to all indications, falls within article 210 of the Criminal Code (creation and participation in a criminal community). “The likelihood of new charges emerging in the case is high.” – said the agency’s interlocutor.

Those involved in the case face up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to 5 million rubles.

The former deputy director of the Ministry of Defense was arrested in April and charged with section 6 of art. 290cc. The investigation believes that he received a bribe “in the form of the provision of real estate services during contract and subcontract work” for the needs of the department. The case is also being investigated Sergei Borodinaccused of complicity in receiving a bribe from Ivanov, and the director of the Olimpsitistroy company Alejandro Fominwho, according to investigators, gave a bribe.

Investigators believe Ivanov received a bribe in exchange for preferences in the construction of buildings, including the Omsk and Kemerovo school buildings. Damage to the state due to the actions of former deputy Sergei Shoigu amounted to more than 2.18 billion rubles.

Ivanov became Deputy Defense Minister in 2016 and before that, for three years he headed Oboronstroy, the largest construction holding of the Ministry of Defense.
