The Galician Sacha Malovof the Oroso Table Tennis club, was proclaimed table tennis world champion in the under-13 category.
The 12-year-old was called up by the Royal Spanish Table Tennis Federation to take part in the World Table Tennis (WTT) Youth Contender Otocec competition, which took place in Slovenia.
Last Wednesday, the Oroso club player played the final against the German Tien Nghia Phong, and after coming back from 8-2 in the fifth and final set, he managed to win the match 3-2 and obtain the gold in the championship.

The Galician athlete has just been selected for Train with the world’s best at ITTF Global Prospects Week, which will take place this year in Paraguay. In addition, it was European team vice-champion with the Spanish team and became world number one in the ITTF rankings at the age of 11.
He is now set to take part in three other WTT events – high-level events bringing together the world’s best players – in the coming weeks in Croatia, Montenegro and Sarajevo.
