National Police agents arrested a 41-year-old man of Spanish origin in Paterna (Valencia) as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of fraud and embezzlement, after pretend to be a mechanic with the aim of owning a motorcycle.
The suspect offered himself as a car mechanic, at affordable prices, through web pages and mobile applications, but his goal was to sell these vehicles or their parts to other people.
The investigations carried out by agents of the Local Judicial Police Brigade of the Burjassot-Godella Police Station, in coordination with those of the Patraix District Police Station, began at the beginning of the month following a complaint in which the victim declared having contacted a mechanic who advertised on a buying and selling app.
So, he decided to entrust him with his motorcycle to repair it and pass the technical inspection, as well as other parts and 350 euros in cash as an advance. After that, the alleged mechanic no longer responded to the complainant’s calls, taking his vehicle, worth 2,000 euros, and the money.
The investigators’ investigations made it possible to identify the suspect, involved in similar events in recent years in different points of Spanish geography.
The agents set up a device to locate and detain him, and he was finally arrested on the public highway, in the Valencian city of Paternalwhich will then be submitted to justice. Likewise, the police found the motorcycle prepared by the suspect for sale, which was in a garage.
