Begoña Gómez’s assistant in Moncloa refuses to testify in the Senate because the case is being taken to court

Councilor of Moncloa Cristina Alvarezwho participated in the negotiations with the Complutense University for the extraordinary chair headed by Begoña Gómez, the wife of the President of the Government, accepted the “right not to declare” within the Senate commission of inquiry into all the ramifications of the Koldo affair because the issues for which she was called to appear were judicialized.

Álvarez visited the Senate this Friday and, in a speech preceding questions from the parliamentary groups, he thanked the interest in his appearance and indicated that he respected the constitutional obligation to appear before the commission, whose purpose has been expanded to include the Begoña Gómez case.

However, the Moncloa employee then expressed that, with all due respect to the senators who make up the commission, she was not going to answer the questions they asked her, taking advantage of her right not to testify: “Given that the problems” those who are interested in my statement are being prosecuted.”

The PSOE respects the decision

During the parties’ speaking turns, PP senator Alfonso Serrano and Vox senator Paloma Gómez criticized the decision of the person appearing not to testify.

More specifically, Serrano protested before the Council of the Commission, criticizing the fact that a person whose salary “comes from the taxes of the Spanish” takes advantage of his right not to declare and therefore renounces to “collaborate” and “account” before the Upper House when she is not indicted, she could therefore appear “perfectly”.

“Even if some questions may seem difficult to you, with the greatest respect and calm, I believe that this appearance could even be useful for you to practice, at least because you will have to say here the same thing as on the 20 , because you are obliged to tell the truth” before the commission and before the judge, had an impact.

Serrano questioned the appearing party on the fact that “he owes nothing to anyone, and even less to Gómez and Pedro Sánchez”: “Because they gave him the opportunity for a job which, I understand, liked it, but they made it a huge mess because you had a professional CV and others didn’t. “You’re not doing yourself a favor, you’re doing it to others.”

For her part, the Vox senator warned the person appearing that her “obligation” is to ask the relevant questions to carry out the investigation for which the commission was created and that if she decides not to answer, it is “his problem”.

“Thank you very much, Mrs. Álvarez, for your response, it has clarified this situation for us a lot,” he concluded ironically after listing all the questions prepared by Vox.

The socialist senator Alfonso Gil limited himself to expressing his “respect” for the decision of the appearing party and took advantage of his speaking turn to criticize what, according to him, is a “media, political and judicial spectacle” promoted by the PP .

Summoned before the judge on December 20

Álvarez’s appearance in the Upper House took place a day after Judge Juan Carlos Peinado summoned her to testify on December 20 in the case in which he is investigating the wife of the president of the government for alleged crimes influence peddling and commercial corruption. , trademark misappropriation and intrusion.

The case summary contains an email in which Álvarez expressed to Reale Gómez the insurance company’s interest in continuing to sponsor the Extraordinary Chair of Competitive Social Transformation that he directed.

Furthermore, in other emails it is indicated that the advisor participated in negotiations with Complutense regarding Gómez’s extraordinary professorship.

Gómez herself gave the judge emails that show that the Moncloa advisor participated in the efforts and appears with an “email” from a personal account, although she also has an official electronic account of the Presidency of the Government where she signed as director of the General Secretariat of the Presidency.
