A new canoe was located a few meters from the port of La Restinga (El Hierro) this Friday morning, with 85 people on boardincluding five minors.

This latest rescue is in addition to that of this morning, around 3:30 a.m., with 68 migrants on board which was located in the waters of El Hierro and safely transferred to port. So far this Friday, 153 people have been rescued, adding to yesterday’s rescues to approach 300 in the last 24 hours.

On Thursday afternoon, Maritime Rescue rescued another canoe with 136 migrantsamong them 32 women and 17 minors, in the waters near the island. The rescue, coordinated by the Tenerife Rescue Coordination Center, was carried out by rescuer Adhara after receiving notification that there was a canoe approximately 18 kilometers (10 nautical miles) south of the port of La Restinga .

These rescues were carried out when the pre-alert to coastal phenomena on the west and north coasts of the archipelago, with a swell of 2 to 3 meters.
