The second chamber of the Valencia Provincial Court sentenced a man to three and a half years in prison for sexually abuse a girl 13-year-old boy diagnosed with an intellectual illness, with a disability of 66%, in a public swimming pool in the city of Valencia.
This is clear from the resolution, to which Europa Press had access, in which the court sentences the man for the crime of sexual abuse of a minor under 16 years old. In addition to the prison sentence, he is given a measure of supervised release for six years after having served the custodial sentence; and the ban on any profession or trade involving regular and direct contact with minors for a period of more than 10 years.

The events date back to the night of July 16, 2022 and took place in the water of the Parque del Oeste swimming pool in Valencia. At one point, the convict approached the minor – represented by lawyer Mario Gil -, he hugged her and abused her. He was surprised by the girl’s father, who took him away from his daughter and reported the events.
The court condemns the man by giving credence to the version of events proposed by the parents of the girl and rescuer who witnessed the scene. He does not believe the statement of the convict, who defended that the swimming pool was covered and that he had tried to float the girl because he thought she was drowning.
However, the rescuer stated during the trial that the pool did not cover up to the navel, so the convict could not interpret that the girl was drowning.

For his part, the young girl’s father explained at the hearing that that night, he had gone to the swimming pool, where he worked as a maintenance worker, with his wife and three children, including the victim, who were bathing in the medium-sized swimming pool of the three that are in the enclosure, “the swimming pool in which he was, because it did not cover him”, he reiterated.
At one point, he explained that he had gone to dinner at the pool bar and his wife had stayed outside to look after their young son, while their 13-year-old daughter was swimming a distance away. lifeguard meter.

For her part, the young girl’s mother indicated that her daughter, after the incident, was in shock, calm and nervous.
