The president of the Confederation of Business Associations of the Balearic Islands (CAEB), Carmen Planasand the territorial director of the Balearic Islands of Bank of Santander, Celia Torrebadellapresided this Friday over the handover of the VIII edition of the CAEB-Santander Awards for Business Innovation, which rewarded the projects presented by CONNEC24 and GROUPE FERGUS. The event took place in the presence of the island advisor responsible for territory, mobility and infrastructure, Fernando Rubio.
CONNEC24 is a newly created company which offers a complete scanning, monitoring and incident management service. Its technology allows a rapid and effective response to any detected anomaly, guaranteeing the optimal operation and safety of installations. It contributes to the reduction of energy consumption, emissions and waste.
For its part, the hotel company FERGUS GROUP presented its Tent Hotels branch, which introduces a new type of accommodation, Unlimited bed and brunchformat with spaces for socializing, self-service laundry, home food delivery or digital solutions.
Planas underlined in a press release “the value of companies that engage in innovation for their consolidation and growth. “Innovation is a strategic tool to solve problems that are deeply rooted in the Balearic Islands, such as mobility or the personnel deficit that affects all sectors of our economic fabric.”
During the event organized at the CAEB, the public was able to learn through several videos of the projects developed by both the winners and the four other finalist companies, namely:
- SOM MINORCA: company that stands out for the implementation of pioneering practices in the real estate sector integrating environmental defense and economic development. They are driving change in the way real estate companies can and should act as stewards of the local environment and culture. They use 100% renewable energy, among many other eco-friendly practices.
- EMOVEERE ADVICE: low-cost consulting company that launched the Quotta.ai project, a pioneering platform in the field of sustainability and circularity for the hotel sector. It is an advanced tool that allows hotels to comply with environmental regulations, optimize the use of resources and improve their commitment to sustainable development.
- PODARCIS: company whose ESG Suite Solutions platform provides a comprehensive solution to effectively manage environmental, social and governance responsibilities. Through advanced integration of artificial intelligence, ESG Suite Solutions centralizes data and optimizes strategic decision-making for regulatory compliance and continuous sustainability improvement.
- TALAT: company that offers personalized engineering services, thinking about a more sustainable and efficient future. Its product Talat Digital Twin is a prototype for the machine rooms of the UTA Santiago Bernabéu. These parts are responsible for generating the energy necessary for maintaining the lawn. The system has guided navigation to access any room monitored by TALAT.
The VIII edition of the CAEB-Santander Prize for Business Innovation had the participation of 15 companieshighlighting the 6 finalists. “It was a difficult choice because all the projects were very competitive and of great interest, reflecting the unequivocal commitment to innovation of the economic fabric of the Balearic Islands”, underlined Carmen Planas. In addition to the winners, the finalists also receive a distinction for their proposals.
The president of the employers’ union recalled the importance of the rewards which highlight “each action undertaken in the name of innovation”. Because innovating always means taking risks and, although this may only bring benefits occasionally, the wonderful thing is that these benefits accrue to society as a whole by being able to enjoy the results of this innovative idea becoming a reality.
Planas emphasized “the CAEB’s commitment to innovation as it is essential that Balearic businesses continue to groware increasingly competitive and can increase their productivity. “I am convinced that innovation is the path that a society that aspires to improve the quality of life and well-being of its citizens must follow.”
For her part, the territorial director in the Balearic Islands of Banco Santander, Celia Torrebadellasaid the bank’s objective is to “support and encourage innovative initiatives aimed at improving the competitiveness of businesses and helping them to grow.” By helping businesses, we contribute to the growth of society.
Alongside Torrebadella and Planas, the rest of the jury of the VIII CAEB-Santander Awards was made up of the Director General of Innovation and Digital Transformation of the Balearic Government, Sébastien González; the vice-rector for Innovation and Digital Transformation of the UIB, Loren Carrasco; the president of the R&D&I Commission of the CAEB, Jose Mañas; Albert Farré-Escofet and Antoni Juárez Villalonga, sales director and business manager in the islands of FI GROUP, respectively; Francisco Vidalmanager of Wattzer by Autovidal, company winner of the Business Innovation Award 2023; And Sergio Bertransecretary general of the CAEB.
