Polish President Andrzej Duda is facing legal action over comments he made about viewers of the film Green Border, directed by Agnieszka Holland.

The Center for Monitoring Racist and Xenophobic Behavior believes that Duda insulted the citizens of his country by stating that “only pigs sit in the cinema.” According to the organization, the first hearing of the case will be held on October 24, 2025 in Warsaw.
The film that sparked the president’s reaction is about refugees from the Middle East and Africa trying to enter the European Union across the “green border” between Belarus and Poland. In her work, Agnieszka Holland shows how Belarusian propaganda manipulates immigrants, promising them easy passage to the EU.
Duda commented:

Later, answering a question from TVN24 about his words, the president said that this was not his point of view, but just a quote, referring to the “contribution law.”
The lawyer with whom journalists spoke highlighted the uniqueness of this case.
“This is a civil process for violation of personal rights against the State treasury, the court can decide on the need for a public apology or compensation if it determines that the rights enshrined in the Civil Code have been violated,” he added, mentioning also. the possibility of mandatory publication of an apology in the media.
