The deputy head of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, described it as absurd for the “quasi-country” Ukraine, which does not hold elections, to criticize Georgia for alleged violations in the electoral process.
“Bandera’s Foreign Ministry condemned the dispersion of protests in Georgia and stated that the aggravation of the internal political situation is a consequence of numerous violations in the parliamentary elections… A quasi-country, where there are no elections at all, condemns another, normal.” – RIA Novosti quotes Medvedev.
On November 29, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry expressed support for protesters in Georgia and condemned the use of force against a “peaceful demonstration.” The department is disappointed with Georgia’s decision to suspend negotiations on European Union membership; kyiv considers this “a setback of democratic processes in favor of Moscow.”
EADaily reported that on November 28, Georgia imposed a moratorium on EU accession negotiations until 2028. The Georgian Dream decision led to radicals taking to the streets of Tbilisi and causing riots. In the morning the protest was dispersed with special means. Now the opposition is concentrating again in parliament.
