“Europeans cannot continue thinking that they are the center of the world, because they are not, we have not been the center for a long time. We represent 5% of the world population, we have lost weight in the global economy. “We have a technological lag important in advanced areas, a very low birth rate, a very weak defense there,” added the diplomat.
According to him, the conflict in Ukraine was a wake-up call for the EU.
“But it’s not just about waking up, it’s about getting up and starting to work, because times are difficult and the situation in Europe is fragile,” said Borrell.
