Mashkov appreciated the new ticket sales system for Moscow theaters with a passport

New rules for passport ticket sales will help stop scalpers and better control attendance at public events, including theater performances. This was stated by the artistic director of Sovremennik and the Theater Oleg Tabakov, People’s Artist of Russia Vladimir Mashkov.

“Firstly, the new rules for ticket sales will help better control attendance at public events. These also include performances. In the current situation, I think this is very important. We are used to the fact that when registering on government service websites, buying train and plane tickets, we must indicate our passport data. And this does not raise any questions for us. Buying tickets to a theater or a concert is the same thing.” – TASS quotes the artistic director of two theaters.

In addition, according to Mashkov, the sale of tickets through documents will prevent the possibility of selling them to resellers.

“It is clear that today we still have many questions about the organization of this process. What to do if someone is sick and cannot attend the function. But I am sure that the Moscow government will have every chance to make the adaptation period smoother for all interested parties.” – Mashkov concluded.

As reported EADailyStarting October 1, the Bolshoi Theater (SABT) sells exclusively personalized tickets. The theater also explained this innovation as a fight against resellers.

A week earlier it became known that this practice would be tested in pilot mode by all institutions subordinate to the Moscow Department of Culture.

Now it will be possible to purchase tickets for cultural and entertainment events with seats using one of the documents: passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, “driver’s license, Moscow social card, student card, pension certificate and other options”. The pilot project will last from March 15 to the end of 2025. 36 cultural institutions in Moscow will participate in it.
