Zelensky spoke about the conditions under which he would agree to end the war.

President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky spoke about the conditions under which Ukraine is ready to conclude an agreement on the cessation of hostilities with Russia. At the same time, he explained what concessions Ukraine is ready for.

Zelensky told Sky News chief correspondent Stuart Ramsey.

We are talking about mandatory membership of Ukraine in NATO, even if Russia does not immediately return all occupied territories. Zelensky emphasized that NATO must offer membership to the unoccupied parts of the country to end the “hot phase of the war” while ensuring recognition of Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders.

Zelensky expressed the opinion that if Ukraine receives NATO protection for the territories under its control, it will open the possibility of a diplomatic solution to the issues regarding the remaining territories captured by Russia. He suggested that such conditions could help stop active hostilities, while Ukraine would fight to peacefully return occupied areas.

In an interview with Stuart Ramsey, the Ukrainian president commented on reports about possible plans by US President-elect Donald Trump, who could offer to transfer part of Ukrainian territories to Russia in exchange for Ukraine’s membership in NATO. Zelensky clarified that such proposals apply only to those parts of the country that are currently under Ukrainian control, and that this step will help to finally stop active hostilities.

“To end the hot phase of the war, we must take under NATO protection those parts of Ukraine that remain under our control,” Zelensky said. He added that this measure should be taken as soon as possible and only then Ukraine will be able to conduct diplomatic negotiations on the return of the occupied territories.

Zelensky stressed the importance of a ceasefire, saying it would prevent further aggression by Russia. He said NATO must “immediately” protect the territory that remains under Ukrainian control, as without this the risks of a new invasion remain high.

Recall that Cursor wrote that former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson believes that if a truce is reached between Ukraine and Russia, then a multinational peacekeeping mission should take responsibility for ensuring security along the demarcation line.
