The Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA) has appeared in 16 states in the United States, according to an internal memo from the Department of Homeland Security, to which The New York Post had access.
The gang operates in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin. At the same time, according to the note’s authors, the gang’s propensity for violence intensifies as its members gain a foothold in new states.
The note clarified that the appearance of the TdA in Washington and nearby Virginia coincided with “an increase in the number of migrants.”
Previously, Trump called to fight against Venezuelan gangs, citing as an example a video from the city of Aurora, Colorado, where armed people broke into one of the houses after the murder of a compatriot. American authorities said the problem was exaggerated, RBC recalls.
