At the Garden of Delights Festival, held in Madrid on September 20 and 21, music and good humor embraced the participants as soon as they crossed the threshold that separated the earthly world from paradise and fantasy. At the entrance to the venue, dozens of groups of friends were gathered ready to have a good time, and it was palpable from the first moment.
School friends taking photos for their social media with the photocall set up with giant, happy flowers, next to the now-iconic owl of the festival; friends who came to jump and sing because suddenly one of their favorite songs was playing; friends who took others on their shoulders to leave their message of remembrance on a blackboard wall; and many others, with their cell phones in hand, waiting for friends who had not yet arrived to enjoy the Festival Jardin des Délices, an event sponsored by Endesa and which has become one of the most visited attractions in the beginning of autumn and which 55,000 people came to attend.
A scandalous poster
And the poster was just amazing and no one wanted to miss it. 84, Coti, Besmaya, Marlon, Hombres G, La La Love You, Juan Magán, Beret, Inazio, Malmö 040, Andy and Lucas, Beret, La Oreja de Van Gogh, Viva Sweden y Taburete, Depol o La Vecina de Arriba, among others, they gave everything on the Endesa stage and the Bosque stage, startling all the staff who approached the festival which, in a way, said goodbye to summer.
The artists jumped and sang with energy, ready for the audience to enjoy from minute zero, even in the first bars of the afternoon. They were dedicated and enthusiastic when it came to performing their songs and having fans sing along with them, which they all say is one of the most amazing things about making music for others.
“Music makes things happen”
Inazio, who had just performed on the Endesa stage, recognized that what had just happened to him was “something incredible”, that “I’m still trying to understand, it exceeded all my expectations and I don’t I have no words.” He claimed that the audience gave him “feelings of joy and absolute joy, I went on stage thinking that my goal was to make the people who came to see the concert happy and me to be happy with them”.
Delpol, for his part, was absolutely excited after his concert on the Bosque stage of the Festival Jardín de las Delicias. “It’s been amazing, I hope to repeat that next year. “I felt a lot of energy in the audience, when they support in this way, it’s something contagious.” And he added: “From the stage I saw a lot of groups of friends, people who are also having a good time and that makes me very happy.”
Inazio believes that music is “the bond that unites us all, it’s the blood that we all share, even if we’re not family because making friends through music is so easy!” Do you like this song? Yeah! Well, we are friends now, although we may not agree on anything else in our lives. But a song, at least for a second, brings us together and that… it’s crazy.
And without a doubt, thanks to just one song, we have the ability to hug someone who is singing next to us, even if we don’t even know each other! “That’s the beautiful thing about music, we don’t need excuses. “Music makes things happen,” he added. “It’s amazing that people know the songs you write and sing them. People who not only heard the words and music, but who processed them and made them their own. Showing up, turning on the mic and making people sing brings us both closer together. We are not separated, there are only people enjoying, singing and loving each other,” explains Inazio with the emotion of the concert still pulsating in the atmosphere.
“Festivals are a space to have fun”
Inazio also said that festivals, which are a wonderful time, “there are always interesting things happening, we get to know each other and we are in an atmosphere of sharing with other musicians, and that is something that we makes us feel united, that is to say very pretty”.
In the same vein, Depol admits that going on stage is always a bit adrenaline-generating, that at the beginning you go out with “a certain tension so that everything goes well”, but “it’s in the last song that we most want to stay, since you are hot and you want to stay all the time Festivals are a fun space, people give everything and with total dedication “That’s what me. fills.”
Depol and Inazio stayed until the end of the festival. They wanted to enjoy the atmosphere, the friendship and camaraderie of the rest of the bands and artists, and feel the music vibrate like any other festival-goer. Inazio didn’t want to miss the song The Voice of the President by Viva Sweden for anything in the world. “I will stick to this song, without a doubt. This summer I put it on loop for everything. Get up, have breakfast, shower, sleep, dinner, after dinner, have a drink, in all situations! This song has been in my life all summer, so 100% I will stay to see them,” he finished with a laugh!
“I really like Taburete and also Hey Kid. Well, this Jardin des Délices Festival, I feel like I did it with my playlists, I love them all. “It could perfectly be my Spotify!”, concludes Depol, smiling at the contagious joy that flooded the festival and at the job well done.
A true circular economy
41 exciting performances that have captured the hearts of music lovers, in a space where emotion, music and pleasure go hand in hand with sustainability. The Jardin des Délices has once again adopted an ambitious sustainable development plan with two main pillars: electric, collective and free mobility thanks to the agreement reached with the EMT, and the circular economy.
It is estimated that the mobility of spectators and artists represents around 80% of a festival’s emissions. In this area, the Jardin des Délices presents one of its great assets by having each edition with an exclusively national poster, with the consequence of saving emissions caused by international travel.
Concerning the circular economy, 90% of materials have been reused since last year. While other elements which could no longer be reused because they had reached the limit of their useful life were recycled. For example, the tarps that covered the sound towers were transformed into 350 tote bags. In addition, priority was given to the rental of equipment and lighting, all LED. A technology that has reduced consumption by 60% compared to traditional lighting commonly used at festivals six years ago.
2023 emissions have been 100% offset thanks to the planting of 411 trees in Navalacruz (Ávila), which will absorb 85 tonnes of Co2 over the next 50 years; while in the field of electrification, the Festival Jardin des Délices will once again have a battery which will allow assembly and dismantling work to be carried out with an entirely electric and renewable power supply.
The transformative power of music
Endesa believes in culture and music as powerful tools to impact people and transform the world. This is why it is a regular ally of music festivals, and not only has the Jardin des Délices extended its collaboration until 2026 – which it has supported since 2022 –, but it is not the only musical event that he supported this year.
He was present at the Mallorca Live Festival, the Icónica Santalucía Sevilla Fest, Es Jardí, Cruïlla Barcelona and Dansaneu de Lérida, ending the year with the celebration of Espacio Zity Zaragoza from October 4 to 12, the festival which completes the list of pop music events. /rock who have the company as a sponsor.
