At least seven Democratic congressmen subject to bomb threats at home when the Thanksgiving Daythe lawmakers confirmed Friday, joining several of President-elect Donald Trump’s nominees who have also faced intimidation.
Sen. Chris Murphy and House Reps. John Larson, Jim Himes, Jahana Hayes and Joe Courtney of Connecticut received threats, as did Reps. Seth Moulton of Massachusetts and Seth Magazine of Rhode Island, the network confirmed. BNC.
The office of the minority leader in the House of Representatives, Democrat Hakeem Jeffries, explained this Friday in a press release that the threats included place a homemade bomb in residential mailboxes legislators to attacks with “crushing”, as is known, false calls to emergency services to deploy special police forces (SWAT) teams, which can lead to dangerous results.
For her part, Congresswoman Hayes explained on her X account that the police had informed her that she had received an e-mail warning about a homemade bomb in the mailbox of the Democrat’s residence.
The authorities did not find no explosive materials on site.
Police received a similar threat at Himes’ home, but no evidence of a bomb was found either.
“There is no place for political violence in this countrys, and I hope we can all spend the Christmas season in peace and civility,” Himes said in a statement cited by the television station.
These threats came after several candidates for the future administration of President-elect Donald Trump denounced similar intimidations last Tuesday and Wednesday.
At least nine people chosen by the Republican, including his candidates to head the Ministry of Defense, Housing and Agriculture, were among those threatened.
The FBI said it started an investigation into the threats.
US President Joe Biden told reporters in Massachusetts on Friday that he was “working hard” on the investigation into the incidents.
