Stop airstrikes in Lebanon: Katz sent a message to international diplomats

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz addressed more than 25 international counterparts and emphasized that Israel will not support a ceasefire in Lebanon unless certain conditions are met.

This was reported by The Times Of Israel.

The message was sent to diplomats from countries such as Germany, Great Britain, Italy and Canada.

According to sources, Katz insisted that a possible truce would only be possible if Hezbollah’s armed forces were pushed north of the Litani River, from where they could not pose a threat to Israel.

The Israeli Foreign Minister also added that the full implementation of all UN Security Council resolutions relating to Lebanon is a prerequisite for a ceasefire.

Until these demands are met, Israel intends to continue operations aimed at ensuring the safety of its citizens and returning residents of the northern regions to their homes.

Recall that Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said that on October 11, 2023, Israel decided not to attack the place where Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, senior members of this organization and Iranian officials were at that time.

According to him, he himself, like most members of the cabinet, opposed such a step.

Katz explained that an attack at that time could spark the start of a war with Iran and Hezbollah. He noted that in October Israel’s attention was focused on the Gaza Strip and the fight against Hamas, adding that the country was not then prepared for a large-scale conflict.

The minister also stressed that the attack would have provoked numerous rocket attacks, but would not have allowed the release of the hostages. According to him, the situation has changed since Israel was able to defeat Hamas and weaken Hezbollah.

Previously, Kursor wrote about why Hezbollah did not respond to Nasrallah’s liquidation with a massive attack on Israel.

According to the military, this is due to the loss of a significant part of its arsenals.

Previously, Kursor also wrote about what awaits Israel after the liquidation of Nasrallah.

Removing Nasrallah could force Iran to reconsider its support for Hezbollah.
