The one who was a great star of university athletics in the United States, Shelby Daniele, died suddenly at the age of 23sold. “Cal Poly Athletics plunges into deep sadness following the recent passing of former Cal Poly student-athlete Shelby Daniele,” read a statement on Instagram. “Shelby was an outstanding student-athlete on the Cal Poly track and field team for five years and graduated from Cal Poly this spring. “She was a six-time All-Big West honoree, two-time Big West champion, team captain and school record holder, but more importantly, she was an incredible teammate and leader,” add- they from the university.
“She cared deeply for those around her.had a noble heart and was a role model for many. Shelby was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed by everyone in the Cal Poly community. Before his time with the Cal Poly Mustangs, Daniele also stood out within his team. high school in Fresno, California. “She was a big part of our family,” Buchanan High School track and field coach Brian Weaver told local newspaper Your Central Valley. “It was a great training experience for me because we had to overcome some things together. It’s a memory I will keep forever.”
Weaver added that “she has mentored many athletes. He kept them going when times were tough: after graduating, he took his personal time to come greet all the coaches and athletes. “She was an extremely fierce competitor, but she had so much love and joy for every person she was with.” Weaver will remember Daniele as a track star, but also highlights her appreciation for life. “She loved everything,” he told a local media outlet. “If people could just do that, love every minute they have, they would want to be remembered for that. “He lived his life to the fullest.” Shelby Daniele helped the team win a state championship in 2019 with a first-place finish in the 200 meters.
Speaking to the Fresno Bee, Weaver also noted that he met the deceased athlete a week earlier while out running and she yelled at him to say hello. “He always took time for his former coach” he added.
