With “astonishment and sadness”, José Luis Martinez-Almeida spoke of the “embarrassment” experienced this Sunday at the Metropolitano during the derby between Atlético and Real Madrid.
“The images we experience they have no place in football and sport”, said the Mayor of Madrid during his visit to the Santa María de la Cabeza fire station.
“What I experienced yesterday at the Cívitas Metropolitano I hope I don’t experience this again“, added the mayor.
Almeida calls for the immediate expulsion of fans involved in throwing objects.
“We must take all necessary measures, however drastic and forceful they may be, so that no one who participated in these incidents yesterday can enter a football stadium again“, he stressed.
“What some Atlético Madrid fans did it’s intolerable“, concluded the mayor of the capital, emphasizing that the events that occurred “have no place among the supporters of Atlético de Madrid nor in the Cívitas Metropolitano.”
