Associate Professor Sayavush Kamran oglu Gasimov, doctor of philosophy and political sciences, was appointed rector of the higher education institution by decision of the Council of Founders of the Baku Eurasian University (BAAU) on September 30, 2024.

Sayavush Gasimov was reported to have worked as BAAU’s vice-rector for international relations until his new appointment.
In 2001-2005, S. Gasimov studied at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels at the BSU Faculty of History, graduating at both levels with honors.
In 2008-2011 he studied at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the specialty “Political Institutions and Systems” and in 2011-2012 he continued his education at the International Hellenic University of Greece within the framework of the “Erasmus” program. Mundus”. “European Union Program. In 2017 he defended his doctoral thesis in political science on the topic “The geopolitical factor in the system of national interests of the Republic of Azerbaijan” and in 2017 he obtained the title of doctor of political science. He is the author of more than 30 scientific articles.
He spoke at several international scientific conferences. He knows English and Russian.
He began his career in 2007 as a professor in the Department of International Relations at BAAU. He served as a specialist in the Department of International Relations of the University, head of department, scientific secretary of the University, deputy director of the department and vice dean. From 2015 until his new appointment, he held the position of vice-rector for international relations at the university.
Since 2014, he has been co-founder and president of the Board of Directors of the Public Association to Support Innovation and Development registered with the Ministry of Justice.
He is the author of 12 projects funded by the Azerbaijan Science Foundation, the State Agency for Support of Non-Governmental Organizations and international organizations.
By order of the Minister of Science and Education he was awarded the badge “Higher Education Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan”.
