The sanction to Max Verstappen for the use of foul language continues to arouse controversy in the world of Formula 1. Last Sunday was Max’s own father the one who reacted against the FIA for the punishment inflicted on his son.
Another who showed his anger at this decision was Helmut Marko. The advisor of Red Bull criticized the FIA for his management of the “Verstappen Affair” and for the final verdict which ended up condemning the three-time world champion to “public interest” jobs.
“There is a double stallion. Moreover, he was not talking about a person, he was talking about the car, that is to say an object, and in a frivolous way. If everything is treated so rigorously, in the future it will be treated differently. But it is clearly exaggerated“, recognized Marko in a statement to the Austrian media “Formel1.de”.
Knowing how strained the relationship has become between Verstappen and the FIAthere has been speculation that the Dutchman could leave Formula 1. Marko also analyzed this possibility: “I don’t wait that the current situation really forces him to retire in the near future.
“You have to take Max seriously. We talk for a long time on the phone… Max has achieved a lot, but for him it’s important to have fun and enjoy the whole sport. If it gets worse and worse, then he will say “that’s all”” concluded Marko.
