The UCM removed Begoña Gómez’s master’s degree because she saw her image “damaged” and due to the “low demand” for the training

The Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) has decided not to renew the Master of Continuing Education in Competitive Social Transformation, which was part of the extraordinary chair co-directed by Begoña Gómez, seeing their image “damaged”, in addition to “low demand and little interest” students of this training.

This was announced by Cadena Ser and Complutense sources confirmed it to Europa Press. The resolution of the Permanent Training Commission of the UCM sets out various reasons which justify the non-renewal of said master’s degree, among which the “damaged” image of the University stands out and the “significant devaluation of reputation and prestige”following various legal proceedings related to the aforementioned training.

On the other hand, the UCM alludes to “low demand and little interest” of a possible student body “verified” by the institution and cites the cancellations of courses and their modalities – online and mixed – occurring throughout the training and this for the Complutense also indicates a “little social demand” the same way about this subject.

“Therefore, revenues through the cannon do not cover direct and indirect costs generated by the activity of the Master”, declares the academic center and, therefore, “the necessary minimum conditions of public interest that this body considers necessary to justify the development of the Diploma” are not met.

The decision of the UCM not to renew the chair co-directed by Begoña Gómez came last September 11 as part of the investigation carried out by the president of the Court of Instruction number 41 of Madrid, Juan Carlos Peinado, against Begoña Gómez for alleged crimes of influence peddling and corporate corruption; the rector of the University of Madrid, Joaquín Goyache; and businessman Juan Carlos Barrabés, among others.

Precisely, one of the facts under investigation is If there was preferential treatment during the creation of the aforementioned chair and in the decision to place Gómez as co-director.
