Italian troops in Lebanon moved to shelters

The soldiers of the Italian contingent of the UN delimitation force (Unifil – UNIFIL) in Lebanon have been transferred to shelters as a precautionary measure, reported the head of the Italian Ministry of Defense, Guido Crosetto.

“Italian troops in Lebanon have reached safe positions and are currently in bunkers as a precaution. “Unifil is not a direct target of the attacks, but it should not be overlooked that the increasing level and intensity of the fighting makes the situation delicate.” – The Nova agency quotes Crosetto.

Earlier Monday, the head of the Defense Ministry said the withdrawal of the Italian contingent from Lebanon was not being discussed. As reported on the department’s website, Crosetto admitted the possibility of accidental involvement by Italians as the number and level of clashes grew.
