Israel started land invasion of Lebanon with which there was threatushering in the “next phase of the war”, while continuing to bomb the southern neighborhoods of Beirut.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that they were already carrying out “ground raids “limited, localized and selective attacks, based on precise information, against Hezbollah terrorist targets and infrastructure in southern Lebanon”, a fact that has been the subject of speculation for days.
The offensive focused “on villages near the border”, which Israeli forces said “pose an immediate threat to Israeli communities in northern Israel” and was accompanied by the air force and artillerywho had already been launched in the south of the neighboring country a few hours earlier, with what the IDF calls “precise attacks against military targets in the region”.
For now, the number of casualties and the scale of the first night of the offensive are unknown, but the Lebanese Ministry of Health, shortly before the start of the offensive, warned that during the last 24 hours the various Israeli attacks in the country had left 95 dead and 172 injured.
Figures that add to the more than 1,000 deaths and nearly a million displaced people who have had to flee their homes over the past two weeks due to the brutal bombing campaign of Israel directed mainly against southern and eastern Lebanon, but also against the southern outskirts of Beirut.
