Complutense removed Begoña Gómez’s master’s degree after seeing her image “damaged” and due to “low demand”

THE Complutense University of Madrid decided not to renew the Master of Continuing Education in Competitive Social Transformation, who was part of the extraordinary chair he co-directed Begoña Gomez, seeing “damaged” his image in addition to the “low demand and little interest” from students for this training.

The resolution of the Continuing Education Commission of the Complutense University sets out various reasons which justify the non-renewal of said master’s degree, including the “damaged” image of the University and the “significant devaluation of reputation and prestige”, following various legal proceedings related to the aforementioned training.

On the other hand, the UCM alludes to the “low demand and little interest” from potential students “verified” by the establishment and cites the cancellations courses and their terms –online and semi-face-to-face – which were provided throughout the training and that of the Complutense also indicates “little social demand” on this theme, according to the SER.

“Therefore, the revenue from the cannon do not cover the direct and indirect costs generated due to the activity of the Master”, declares the academic center and, therefore, “the necessary minimum conditions of public interest that this body considers necessary to justify the development of the Diploma do not exist”.

The decision of the UCM not to renew the presidency co-led by Begoña Gómez came on September 11 as part of the investigation carried out by the president of the Court of Instruction number 41 of Madrid, Juan Carlos Peinadoagainst Begoña Gómez for alleged crimes of influence peddling And corporate corruption; the rector of the University of Madrid, Joaquín Goyache; and the businessman Juan Carlos Barrabésamong others.

Precisely, one of the facts under investigation is whether there was favorable treatment in the creation of the aforementioned chair and in the decision to place Gómez as co-director.
