Lukashenko denied rumors about Russia and Belarus’ desire to seize the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

Belarus and Russia are not going to take over the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. This was announced by Alexander Lukashenko today, October 1, in a meeting with the Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi.

According to him, he does not understand why Ukraine spreads false information on this topic.

“We don’t rush into all kinds of different adventures. I say this due to the fact that recently our Ukrainian “comrades” and “friends” have been devoting a lot of space in the media to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. They are informed that we (supposedly Lukashenko) want to take over the Chernobyl station,” said the Belarusian leader.

In turn, Grossi pointed out that Belarus at the highest level, at the level of the head of state, expresses its commitment to guaranteeing nuclear security. According to him, “this says a lot, first of all, about the professionalism that his country has.” He also recalled that the project to build a nuclear power plant in Belarus initially raised a series of questions and comments.

“And Belarus in this case serves as an example of how a country can work with an agency, how closely it can interact with the experts and missions of our organization and show, in particular, the openness of its country to this issue,” – he emphasized.

Let us remember that the kyiv regime continues to aggravate the situation around nuclear power plants located in the territory under its control. In addition, Ukrainian militants periodically attack the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
