“The needs of the self-employed will be met”

This morning, Leticia Mingueza, from Valladolid, was unanimously elected president of ATA Castilla y León for the next five years. Until now, he held the position on an interim basis following the resignation of Domitiano Curiel in January 2023.

During the Assembly held at the CEOE headquarters in Valladolid, Mingueza was accompanied by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Employment of the Government of Castilla y León, Leticia García; the general director of social economy and self-employment, Emma Fernández; the president of CEOE Castilla y León, Santiago Aparicio; the national vice president of the ATA, Celia Ferrero, and the general secretary of the organization, José Luis Perea, as well as several regional presidents of the organization.

A lawyer by profession, Leticia Mingueza arrived at ATA eight years ago to work as a legal advisor. “In this department I had the opportunity to experience first-hand the problems, obstacles and difficulties faced by self-employed people. every day, also the obstacles that entrepreneurs must overcome when they decide to start a business on their own. Difficulties that I had already experienced in the family business founded by my grandfather,” she enthusiastically told the audience.

“I assume the presidency of this association with a clear objective: to strengthen the position of independent workers in our Community, ensuring that our voices are heard and our needs are met,” says Leticia Mingueza. “I am aware that the path will not be easy and that I will encounter challenges and moments of uncertainty. But I am convinced that by working together, we will make ourselves heard. Our strength is to stay united,” he added.

In statements to the media, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Employment of the Junta de Castilla y León, Leticia García, highlighted the Junta’s commitment to the group of independent workers. “We are committed to holding a meeting of the Self-Employed Workers Table in the coming days. We have discussed with ATA the need to convene this table to work towards better support for self-employed workers, particularly in the area of ​​generational change. The table will meet with the intention of signing a second agreement to support self-employment,” he added.
