Moldova’s independent presidential candidate Andrei Nastase gathered a dozen of his supporters at the Prosecutor General’s Office today, October 1. The former Minister of the Interior organized a flash mob under the slogan “Where are the billions?”

Natsase said that “the prosecutor’s office is controlled by the current government” and high-level corruption is “covered up by the president of the country.” According to him, Moldova’s public debt has almost doubled since 2019, prices have reached incredible levels and Moldova pays the highest price for gas supplies in Southeast Europe. All this is a consequence of corruption and incompetence of the authorities.
“We came here to demand from the Attorney General (Iona Munteanu) to urgently open proceedings against those who have imposed enormous debts on current and future generations. We demand an investigation into where billions of support from Europe went: billions that did not reach Moldovans, but were converted by the authorities into their own political PR.” – said Nastase.
He promised that if he were elected president (elections in the Republic of Moldova will be held on October 20), he would conduct a “popular audit” and check “the criminal component of all decisions that led to an increase in the debt of the country and citizens ”.
Previously, Andrei Năstase invited Maia Sandu to a public debate in the “European and Western spirit” and even brought her a podium for the presidency, but no one came to him.
