The Valencian Government approved in plenary session this Tuesday a institutional statement of support for the annulment of the judicial summaries against the oriolano poet Miguel Hernándezsentenced to death after the civil war. The sentence was commuted to an additional 30 years in prison. Finally, Miguel Hernández died in Alicante prison from tuberculosis. The institutional declaration approved by the Valencian Government is carried out in application of the Valencian Concord Law, which the government of Pedro Sánchez threatens to take to the Constitutional Court.
This Tuesday’s gesture from the Valencian government Carlos Mazon This is not an isolated decision or a decision made at a specific time. Because precisely, Carlos Mazón has always been one of the politicians most involved in the recovery of the memory of the poet Oriolano. Mazón is responsible for the recovery, during his mandate in the Provincial Delegation of Alicante, of the legacy of Miguel Hernández for this same institution. And it was also he who promoted what we call the poet’s path in honor, precisely, of Miguel Hernández.
THE Valencian law of concordin application of which the Valencian Government positioned itself this Tuesday around the recognition and repair of the memory of Miguel Hernández, was promoted by PP and Vox, then partners of the Government, and approved by the Valencian Cortes with the votes of two formations and against the socialists and the Compromises this month of July.
Unlike the law of memory of Pedro Sánchez, approved by the PSOE with the support of Bildu, the Valencian law of concord of the PP and Vox includes the recognition of the victims of the terrorist group ETAas well as the victims between the years 1931 and 1936, that is to say during the Second Spanish Republic.
Now the government of Pedro Sánchez wants to bring this Valencian law of concord, which the Valencian executive applied to join the request for annulment of the trials against Miguel Hernández, to the Constitutional Court. However, the first time that the Executive of Carlos Mazón used it expressly was to provide support to the family of the poet author of Winds of the peoplewho during the Civil War supported the Republican side and was a war correspondent.
With this declaration, the Executive joins the request of the family and other notable personalities that they had also requested the annulment of the summary of the trials to which the poet had been subjected.
This Monday, as published by OKDIARIO, Mazón reiterated the validity of the Valencian law of concord. In his argument, he recalled the case of Miguel Ángel Blanco, murdered by ETA with a bullet to the back of the head. And he pointed out that if Miguel Ángel Blanco had been from Castellón, with the Valencian law of Concordia, he would have been considered a victim. With that of Sánchez, he added, “no”.
