The King appreciates “the heroic actions” of DANA citizens “to ensure the safety of people at risk”

Dressed in a dark gray suit and a black tie, responding to the mourning decreed in Spain for the tragic consequences of DANA, Felipe VI this morning thanked “the heroic actions» citizens “to save people in danger or to meet the basic needs of those who have lost everything” at DANA. The King also thanked “in a particular way the countless actions of all those who have sought to maintain or restore basic public services, the attention of town halls or social services”.

During the “First Meeting of Ibero-American Cities”, during an event that he chaired and in which initially the King was not going to intervene, he used this loudspeaker to, “in these moments of desolation”“reexpress and convey” in the name of the Queen, yours and that of the entire royal family, your “most sincere condolences to the families of the deceased”, in addition to your “deep solidarity and closeness, both towards them and to all those who are affected by this terrible and catastrophic DANA which has devastated so many cities and places in our country especially in the east and south, affecting many areas of the Valencian Community, Andalusia and Castile-La Mancha;

“We join in their pain, as we all must, administrations, institutions and civil society throughout Spain, to remain united in aid and support – effective and generous – to quickly mitigate the consequences, recover as much as possible a normal life and overcome “This trauma, this hard blow that nature has dealt us with tragic consequences on the human level and also distressing on the economic and social level”, expressed the King. “They all have our supportwith our boost morale And breath -with those of an entire country-in this such a difficult situation“, he added.

Don Felipe also recognized “with gratitude and admiration”to all the rescue teams and emergency services (autonomous and state, civil, police and military) who, “in an unprecedented operation, also in the face of the catastrophe, in its dimension, have worked – and continue to do so – in a coordinated, integrated manner, with great professionalism, effort and dedication from the first moment and in these very complex conditions.

Early in the morning, from the Zarzuela Palace, it was reported that Felipe VI tasked his household security detail and the royal guard with placing all the necessary troops at the disposal of the Government to help in areas affected by the passage of DANA.

The King requested that these troops be placed at the service of “the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defense to collaborate in the tasks accomplished by the State Security Forces and Organs and by the UME.”

In accordance with the three days of national mourning decreed by the Government since midnight this Thursday, a black ribbon covers the website of the King’s House and the national flag which presides over the offices of the Zarzuela Palace flies at half mast.

The King had already expressed his condolences the day before for the nearly 100 deaths that the storm left in the Valencian Community, Castile-La Mancha and Andalusia and asked that emergency teams be able to work.
