“Don’t drink raw tap water because you will get an infection.”
Oku.Az reports that there are accusations on social media that children and adults are becoming infected by drinking tap water in some areas of Baku.
It was observed that in the settlements of Bakijanov, Sulutepe and Ramana, people became infected by drinking raw tap water.

We directed the question to the Clinical Medical Center as to whether there has been any increase in the number of patients coming in due to a gastrointestinal infection recently.
From the Institution’s Press Service Oku.AzIn response to the consultation, it was reported that every year in the summer months there is an increase in the number of requests for gastrointestinal infections to the Emergency Department of the Clinical Medical Center.
“This is also related to the season. During this period, the department receives approximately 400 to 500 applications per month. In the autumn-winter months, a decrease in this number is observed,” the information states.
However, regarding cases of infection from drinking tap water, the Ministry of Health reported that the question of where patients who requested emergency assistance drink is not investigated.
“If poisoning has occurred, appropriate treatment is carried out, the stomach is washed and the problem is eliminated,” the statement underlines.
Therefore, no cases of infection from drinking tap water have yet been confirmed. However, due to the change of season, among the recommendations made to citizens are careful treatment of gastrointestinal diseases and strict compliance with hygiene rules.
