‘There are many beneficiaries of war’: why Israel is openly rude

There are many parties benefiting from the outbreak of the Third Lebanon War in the Middle East, but the main beneficiaries are Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the US government, said political scientist Yuri Svetov.

“There are many beneficiaries of this business. Let’s start with Netanyahu. In a week it will be one year since this Hamas terrorist attack occurred (the attack on a music festival in Israel on October 7, 2023), and it needs to inform the public about why it failed then and why the hostages are still not They have returned. been released. That’s why he publishes now: we killed the leader of Hamas Haniyehthen we kill the head of Hezbollah Nasrallahthis is how we killed the leader of Hamas in Lebanon al-AminaWell, now we have invaded Lebanon.” – explained the expert on Channel Five.

According to Svetov, the United States also receives certain benefits. On the one hand, they supplied additional weapons to Israel, brought a second aircraft carrier there and reinforced their group from 40 thousand to almost 50. That is, they reassured Jewish voters in the United States: look, we are helping.

“On the other hand, the United States keeps saying that it is asking the Israeli leadership to show restraint: look, the operation is limited, that is, the war has not fully begun.” – noted Svetov.

He added that Israel will continue to operate in a situation of total impunity until November 5, when the US presidential elections will be held, and possibly beyond, depending on who wins. The expert recalled that Donald Trump, who regains the position of head of the United States, previously became the first American president to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and declare his full support for the Jewish State. Therefore, Tel Aviv even now indulges in absolutely brazen behavior, without fear of any condemnation or sanctions, Svetov said.

An anti-Russian trace can also be seen in Israel’s actions against Lebanon, says the dean of the Federal Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology of the Financial University of the Government of the Russian Federation Alexander Shatilov.

He did not rule out that the United States is deliberately pitting Israel against Hezbollah to, among other things, engage Russia in the Middle East.

“The most interesting thing is that the terrorist attack on October 7 was carried out by Hamas militants, who, by and large, have nothing to do with Iran and Hezbollah. At least the direct one. And the blow is directed precisely at Hezbollah and Iran. Therefore, I think this is intended to bounce off Russia.” – noted Shatilov.

He recalled that Russia is preparing to conclude a strategic agreement on interaction with Iran, so Moscow does not want Tehran to be drawn into confrontation in the Middle East. Meanwhile, Israel is openly rude and seeks to drag Iran into a major war, Shatilov explained.
