The Israeli army intends to limit the ground operation in southern Lebanon to the shortest possible time.
Oku.AzAccording to Daniel Hagari, official representative of the Israel Defense Forces, he said this in a briefing.
“I will not reveal the details in front of the enemy, but we will make it as brief as possible. We will do what is necessary within the limited, localized operation that we are currently conducting,” he said.
According to Hagari, the Israeli army’s activity will focus solely on the infrastructure of the “Hezbollah” movement in the border regions of southern Lebanon. “We are not going to Beirut, we will not enter the cities of southern Lebanon, we are paying attention to the settlement areas near our border,” the army representative said.
He stressed that the main objective of these activities is to destroy the “Hezbollah” infrastructure that is ready to be used in offensive operations against Israel, according to information from the Israeli army.
“Any other sovereign country would do the same thing,” Hagari said.
The Israeli army also announced the mobilization of four additional reserve brigades in connection with the start of the ground operation in southern Lebanon.
“Based on the assessment of the situation, the Israel Defense Forces are calling up four additional reserve brigades to carry out operational tasks in the northern direction,” the army’s press service said in a statement.
