The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, traveled this Thursday to Valencia, one of the areas most affected by DANA which already leaves around a hundred dead. Concretely, he visited the Emergency Cooperation Center of L’Eliada in the company of the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, the “popular” organization Carlos Mazon. After a minute of silence, Sánchez reiterated “Government commitment” with the people concerned, while emphasizing that “DANA continues” and urged the population “to follow the recommendations”.

Sánchez began his speech by “valuing the public”, whose members “work day and night to find missing people” and so that “citizens can return to their daily lives as quickly as possible.” In this sense, he addressed the citizens of the Valencian Community to whom he wanted to convey “tranquility, security and answers”.

Given the situation, which described as “tragic” and “dramatic”also secretary general of the PSOE reaffirmed “the government’s commitment on land, at sea and in the air” for “as long as it takes”. Likewise, he reiterated the “solidarity of the executive with the victims and their families.”

He then stressed that since level two was decreed in Valencia, “the Spanish government has mobilized a huge amount of resources and personnel”. Which, he assures, will continue to be the case, since the Executive will offer “all the necessary additional resources”: “We are not going to leave you alone. We will be with you as long as it is necessary and with all possible means,” Sánchez reiterated, in line with the statements he made this Wednesday.

Concerning the steps to follow, the socialist insisted on the fact that “the obvious priority is to find the victims to ease the anguish of these families”, as well as “put all state resources from an economic point of view” serving those who need it, as well as those of the European Commission.

In this sense, he declared that he had spoken on Wednesday with his president, Ursula Von der Leyen, who expressed her support, as well as “all the Member States” who “have launched themselves” and are even offering now ” “resources and help. to react as effectively as possible. » Likewise, he recalled that the declaration of a catastrophic zone will be made at the next Council of Ministers.

Finally, Sánchez did not forget to emphasize that “DANA continues”, which is why he asks citizens to “stay at home” and follow the “recommendations”, because “the most important thing is to save as many lives as possible possible”. He also mentioned the upcoming All Saints’ Day long weekend, which “is already difficult for many families”.

The Generalitat has activated a telephone number for assistance to relatives of missing persons: 900 365 112. The authorities ask that this telephone number be reserved solely to provide information on the relative who cannot be reached. For emergencies, the number is always 112.
