This morning, the relatives of Ángel Luis dropped off at the forward command center a bag containing new clothes that they had purchased for those affected by DANA in the beautiful municipality of Albacete, Letur. In addition, they delivered a letter of gratitude to the many personnel participating in the search tasks for the five missing: the young couple Jonathan and Mónica; Antonia, an elderly person, and municipal employees Juan and Manuel.
Originally from the neighboring town of Férez, twelve kilometers from Letur, Ángel Luis was rescued on the first day by a Civil Guard helicopter. And he thanked this humanitarian service by writing a few short lines in his own handwriting, full of affection and admiration. “Get a really big hug for everyone and lots of encouragement. Thank you for saving the helicopter and for everything you did for me,” reads the letter circulating among the 200 members of the operation.
The delivery of the clothes and the letter coincided with the start of work to find the five residents of Letur swept away by the “tsunami” which devastated the old town, declared a Historic and Artistic Site since 1983. This was in addition to the tasks tomorrow, two Civil Guard dogs trained to search for human corpses.
