The Canadian Prime Minister’s Liberal Government Justin Trudeau adopted a new motion of censure led by the conservatives, the second in less than a week, local media reported.

According to the motion debated on Tuesday, “the House had lost confidence in the government and offered Canadians” the option of eliminating taxes, building housing, balancing the budget and fighting rising crime in the country, so many subjects on which criticisms have been made. of Trudeau concentrates.

The initiative was defeated in the House of Commons by a margin of 121 votes to 207.which will allow Trudeau to continue to govern despite the wear and tear suffered by his government after nine years in power.

According to local media, the Conservatives, who have a large advantage in the polls before the elections due to be held at the end of October 2025, are defending a reduction in federal carbon taxes and accusing the Trudeau government of not fighting against inflation and rising carbon emissions. crime.

The Canadian Prime Minister has already adopted a motion of censure on September 25 presented by the Conservative Party to bring down its government.

The result of this vote should not jeopardize the continuity of the Executive, since the sovereignist Bloc Québécois (BQ) and the NDP had already announced that they were not going to support it. The motion then received a total of 120 votes for and 211 against.

Trudeauwho has won three consecutive general elections since 2015, lost the support of the social-democratic New Democratic Party (NDP) earlier this monthwhich since the last call to the polls in September 2021 guaranteed him to govern without problems.

Currently, his party, the Liberal, has only 154 seats, compared to 119 for the Conservative Party, 32 for the sovereignist Bloc Québécois (BQ), 24 for the NDP, two for the Green Party and three independents.

The unpopularity that the Prime Minister is accumulating and the loss of party support that has allowed him to govern so far without worries suggest that Trudeau may be forced to call early election that polls show he lost.

In addition, the Conservatives will still have three additional options to present motions before next Christmas.
