Japan’s new Minister of Defense, General Nakatani, began his activities by expressing concern about the strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China. This was stated in the first press conference after his appointment, RIA Novosti reports.
“Around our country there is a group of states with strong armed forces,” – said the Japanese minister.
Among them he named the People’s Republic of China, the DPRK and Russia.
China, he said, is increasing military spending at a consistently high level, rapidly expanding and strengthening its military power.
“China’s military activities are of serious concern to our country and the world. North Korea’s military movements represent an even greater, more serious and imminent threat to our country than before. Russia in the Far East region continues its active military activities and strategic partnership [России] with China is a big concern from a defense point of view,” – Nakatani said.
