Under the name of “Stops for all”, this Friday October 4Auvasa is launching the on-demand bus stop service for women on the owl lines in Valladolid, although it cannot be ruled out that this pilot project could subsequently be extended to other night lines.
As highlighted this Wednesday by the mayor, Jesús Julio Carnero, during the presentation made at the Town Hall, this measure responds to a request made by the Feminist Forum and by the Equality Service of the Town Hall itself, which have expressed the need of women, at night, could choose a stop closer to their destination, different from the stops marked by Auvasa. “It’s about give peace of mind to women and continue to move forward in a plan of equality that requires all of us,” declared the mayor.
When a woman wants to use this service, she just needs to approach the driver and inform you in advance where you want to get offbut still within the outline of the line. Disembarking from the bus will always be through the front door, unless a ramp is necessary to facilitate exiting a wheelchair and entering the service. It can only be used by women traveling alone or in the company of other women.or who are accompanied by dependents.
According to data provided by the mayor, last year, 154,026 trips were recorded on Auvasa’s night services, of which 58.3 percent – according to payment method data – corresponded to women, a percentage which on owl lines is 55.7 percent.
In addition to the director of Auvasa, Eduardo Cabanillas, the founder of the Feminist Forum of Castilla y León, Nina Infante, also participated in the presentation, who recalled that this service, which already operates in other cities of Spain with good results, This is an allegation that the Feminist Forum presented to the City Council’s Equality Plan, reports Ical.
