Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva’s appeal against disqualification is denied – EADaily, October 2, 2024 – Politics News, Russia News

Switzerland’s Federal Supreme Court has rejected an appeal against the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to disqualify Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. This was reported by the press service of the Swiss court.

“The Swiss Federal Supreme Court has decided to dismiss an appeal against a previous decision. The judicial decision is communicated to the parties and the CAS.” – says the court statement, cited by TASS.

Let us remember that on January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport disqualified Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules. Valieva’s suspension begins on December 25, 2021, canceling the figure skater’s results shown from that moment on. Valieva lost her gold medals at the European and Russian championships.

On January 30, the International Skating Union canceled the athlete’s results at the 2022 Olympic Games, moving the Russian team from first to third place in the team figure skating tournament. On July 25, the CAS rejected appeals by the Russian Olympic Committee, the Russian Figure Skating Federation and figure skaters against the decision to redistribute medals from the Olympic team tournament.
