The PSOE denounces that the approval of the ultra-summit in the Senate was done “behind the backs” of the socialists of the Table

The PSOE denounced this Wednesday that the socialist members of the Senate Council “They neither debated nor voted“the proposal to celebrate the IV Transatlantic Summit in the Upper House and added that “it was not included in the questions for debate” in the meeting in which it was approved.

The PSOE positions itself “against” the celebration of this event in the Senate and this was communicated this Wednesday to the President of the Upper House, the popular Pedro Rollan. The Socialists stressed in a press release that this proposal to organize this event “was brought to the Council meeting” on July 17 “by the General Secretariat of the Senate” and, in it, “this proposal was not included” among the issues to be discussed on the agenda of this meeting previously addressed to the members of the Council”.

Likewise, they insisted that The proposal “was not debated or voted on” during this meeting and assured that “this can be confirmed by reading the interventions and the meaning of the vote expressed by the members of the Council during the said meeting”. The socialists also insist on the fact that “the minutes of this Council were only known to its members the day before its approval, during the Council of September 3”.

The Socialist Group also did not vote in favor of this law because it “does not share its content”, sources in the group indicated. The majority of the PP finally gave the green light to this act, while, according to the socialists, “we have repeatedly and unsuccessfully demanded this act”.

“Almost two months have passed and three tables have taken place without reliable knowledge of what has been approvedAccording to the socialists, the network associated with this summit “includes anti-abortion organizations from around the world and, on its website, messages of support for former United States President Trump appear; to the former president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro or the prime minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán.

“It’s about the transfer of space in this house to an organization that does it divide and we hope that the events organized in this room, beyond the parliamentary debates, are inclusive and respect the entire society, because the Senate must be the home of all”, declared the deputy spokesperson and secretary general of the group socialist in the Senate, Alfonso Gil.

“This approval was carried out behind the backs of the socialist members of the Table and at no time was it put to a vote,” he noted, adding that “we feel cheated because it was slipped in collaterally, at no time was it mentioned what the objectives were nor what the association was. ” Thus, Gil felt that “there was bad faith”.
