The Intermodal Rail Terminal of the Badajoz Logistics Platform was inaugurated this Wednesday morning. During the event, the regional president, María Guardiola, highlighted that this service is “one more step” for the process of “economic and social transformation” of Extremadura, reports the Commission in a press release.
According to Guardiola, with the activity carried out in this terminalExtremadura “is going to establish itself on the map as a key hub for the exchange of goods, not only in Spain, but also in Europe”. Likewise, he added, it will be a “gateway to the Panama Canal.”
The President of Extremadura said that this infrastructure will allow entrepreneurs in the region “significantly reduce the cost of transportation”: “This will give it a clear competitive advantage in other markets,” he noted.
The regional leader explained that in principle, “the forecast” is that there will be a movement of “five trains weekly. Guardiola insisted this would allow for a “continuous flow of goods”. Likewise, he assured that this Rail Terminal is an “excellent result of public-private collaboration”.
Guardiola recalled that in this business park of the Logistics Platform They are also under construction “thirteen industrial warehouses”: “400 square meters of surface area, so that smaller business projects can be installed and developed under the protection of this large platform.”
