Nour, originally from Toledo, fills the Círculo del Arte with “Inhabitable”, his first album

The singer-songwriter Bárbara Ballesteros, known in the music world as Nour, lived to the rhythms of her first work, “Inhabitable”, in a Toledo Art Circle that presented a more what remarkable on the night of Sunday afternoon, October 27.

Accompanied by her new group (Marcos Ballester on guitar, Sebastián Yarzabal on bass and Noe Hidalgo on drums), the composer and performer from Toledo presented the entire repertoire of her new work alongside songs from other acoustic scenes, now scrutinized by its renewed pop-rock style. .

His ‘Death on the Spot’ brought to life a concert that lasted about an hour and during which the audience sang and danced other songs like ‘Inhabitable’, “The Light Will Fall” or “Distorted Song”. One of the most moving moments of the evening was when Nour went down to the central nave of the ancient church of San Vicente where the Art Circle is located and mingled with his audience to sing the song acoustically which he dedicated to his city. Toledo: “Home”.

Before the “Café”, other highlights such as the “Corre” or the “Pensée à moi” were played. The show ended with its traditional “Lost Girl”, now a girl rediscovered with rock.

Nour will continue the presentation of “Inhabitable” with a tour which, for the moment, has already stopped in Granada, Madrid, Cuenca and Ciudad Real.

Genes of Toledo

Nour (Bárbara Ballesteros Ralero) was born in Madrid on December 11, 2003, although three days later she changed her environment (a little cleaner) and settled in Toledo; the place where he grew up and to which he dedicated a song: ‘Home’.

It was in the so-called “City of Three Cultures” that at the age of only three he began to take his first steps precisely in its musical culture. First of all, with private lessons at home. Very quickly, he began learning piano at the century-old Chassaigne Brothers of his great-grandmother Manuela Ballesteros, a pianist who received the Cross of the Civil Order of Alfonso XII and who studied piano scholarships in Paris and in Vienna in the 1920s. century.

With these genes and a lot of work, Nour studied at the Toledo Conservatory “Jacinto Guerrero” intermediate diploma in piano, even if traditional methods and a much more playful and dynamic personal conception of music led her to make the leap to “The Music Box” School, a center where he began to develop his great musical creativity.

At the age of 14, he composed her first song, “Lost Girl”, a song that the young Nour wrote addressing the girl Bárbara whom she no longer was and with whom she usually closes her concerts.

Concerning the inevitable (and almost impossible) moment of defining his style, it must be said that Nour’s is an eclectic style, which mixes the most intimate lyrics of classic singer-songwriters with experimentation with the new tools of today’s music.

It is also important to highlight the multidisciplinary character of this young artist, since, in addition to writing the texts of her songs and composing their music, sings, plays piano and guitar and tries to participate in the entire musical production process of their songs.

Currently, he has composed more than twenty songs. Among them his first single (“Pense à moi”), a song in French with which he became known and with which won the first edition of the “Promesas Toledo” music competition in 2021.

Among the concerts in which he has participated, it is worth highlighting his performance with “La Mala Rodríguez” at Womanfest 2021 and the Cadena Dial concert at Corpus de Toledo 2023 with Andrés Suárez, in whose studio, “Moraima”, he recorded two themes.

Currently, Nour (Bárbara Ballesteros) combines her artistic career with her studies in fourth year of Musicology at the Complutense University of Madrid.
