In Baku, a man beat his wife because she talked too much on the phone

Saleh Mammadov, born in 1975 in the Surakhani district of Baku, injured his wife Sumbula Mammadova (full name provided – ed.) during a dispute arising from a family conflict.

According to Demokrat.az, the incident took place on July 9 last year.

That day, at 6:00 p.m., Saleh complained that his wife Sumbula had been talking on the phone for a long time during the day and was not answering his phone calls.

At that time, because he used indecent expressions towards Sumbula and the latter responded to him, an argument arose between them, and Saleh became angry and deliberately hit different parts of his body with his fist several times.

The perpetrator of the incident, Saleh, was charged under article 128 of the Penal Code (intentional harm to health).

Saleh, who testified as a defendant in the criminal case, pleaded guilty to the charge that had been announced to him.

He said that three daughters were born from his mutual marriage with his wife Sumbula:

“Our relationship with my wife Sumbula has always been good. Recently, although I came home tired from the workshop where I worked as a blacksmith, my wife was not interested in me. She talked to someone on the phone all day. This had a bad effect on me, so there was dissatisfaction between us.

The accused stated that he arrived home on July 9, at 6:00 p.m.:

“At that time, I was very tired because of work. Although I called Sumbula many times during the day, her phone was busy. I was angry because she didn’t answer me. I came home and complained to her. I went to the kitchen and told her I asked for tea. While Sumbula was giving me tea, I came home late because I was tired, I responded rudely to him and then hit him in various parts of the house, I regretted my action.

According to Sumbula, the victim in the case, there have recently been disagreements between him and his wife Saleh:

“Saleh made me jealous of other people for no reason and treated me rudely. However, I had never complained about this before. On July 9, I was at the house where we lived together. That day, Saleh came home around 18:00.

After returning home, Saleh complained that my mobile phone was busy for a long time, went to the kitchen and asked me for tea. While giving Saleh tea, I criticized him for coming home late lately. Because this had a negative effect on Saleh, he began to insult me and use inappropriate expressions towards me. Because I responded to him, he hit me with his fists on different parts of my body and hurt me.”

This criminal case was heard in the Surakhani District Court.

According to the court’s verdict, Saleh was sentenced to 3 months and 16 days of restriction of freedom.

The defendant is ordered not to leave the city limits of Baku, not to leave his place of residence from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., to carry an electronic surveillance device and to use it to keep it in operation. . He has set himself the task of not changing his place of residence without a relevant court order.
