Russians’ phones are being attacked by a Trojan virus that imitates bank push notifications. Professor of the Department of Security in the Digital World, MSTU. Bauman Vitaly Vekhov explained how to protect personal data.
“If earlier call center operators called from the territory of Ukraine or another state, now scammers have somewhat modernized the scheme, taking into account the development of new technologies. They automatically transferred part of their work to malicious computer programs, such as a Trojan horse, which, under the guise of regular advertising, spam or mail, introduces elements of malicious code into a mobile application or a desktop computer connected to the Internet. In this way, fraudsters gain access to some mailboxes, addresses of computer users, sometimes even their personal data, bank payment gateways and funds.” – Vitali Vekhov warned on Sputnik radio.
According to the expert, if the user does not enter the PIN code, username and password every time, but simply puts everything in automatic mode, he will have access, even to malicious computer programs.
“The protection here is standard. Appropriate antivirus software should be used and databases should be updated at least once a week. After each login to a payment gateway or mobile application, you must clear the links in the browser. “Then we reduce the capabilities of malicious programs such as a Trojan horse and other action algorithms by an order of magnitude.” – said Vekhov.
