Three defendants in the Crocus City Hall terrorist attack case have been accused of preparing another attack. This was reported by TASS on Thursday, October 3, citing the case materials.
“In addition to the charge of committing a terrorist attack, three defendants in the case were also charged with preparing a terrorist act.” – the documents say.
According to the agency, the defendants planned to carry out the attack using a homemade bomb. They are also charged with the crime of illegal production of an explosive device committed by an organized group.
Previously, on October 2, the media learned that those involved in the Crocus case had given incriminating testimonies. The investigation has reason to believe that the accused, while free, given the seriousness of the charge, can coordinate his actions with other participants in the crime.
The terrorist attack on Crocus City Hall occurred on March 22. The terrorists broke into the building, opened fire and set fire to the concert hall. As a result of the attack, 145 people were killed and 551 injured. The Russian FSB reported that after the terrorist attack, the attackers planned to cross the border from the Russian Federation to Ukraine, they had contacts on the Ukrainian side.
A criminal case has been initiated under art. 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Terrorist act”). On June 1, it was reported that more than 1.7 thousand people were recognized as victims in the case of the terrorist attack in Crocus. On the same day, it became known that there were 20 defendants in the case of the terrorist attack, 18 of whom were detained and two more were ordered not to leave the scene, Izvestia clarifies.
