Iranian authorities have lifted all flight restrictions imposed on October 1 following a massive missile attack on Israel. This was announced by the representative of the Civil Aviation Organization of the Islamic Republic, Jafar Yazarlow.
“After all conditions for safe flights were ensured, all restrictions were lifted and airlines were allowed to operate flights starting at 5:00 am (4:30 Moscow time).” – The IRNA agency quotes Yazerlow, TASS reports.
The official also asked citizens to monitor the operation of all flights through the airport’s electronic screen, despite the lifting of all restrictions on October 3. Passengers will be compensated for the cost of tickets for all previously canceled flights, it added.
Recall that on the afternoon of October 1, Iran launched a massive missile attack against Israel in response to the assassinations of key people in the leadership of Hamas, Hezbollah and the IRGC. Tehran said 90% of the missiles successfully hit their intended targets, while Israel claims Iran launched around 180 missiles and most of them were intercepted. The Israeli General Staff promised to “pick the moment” and surprise with a response to the attack, and Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned in Hebrew that attacks on Israel would become even more widespread.
On October 1, the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran decided to introduce a temporary restriction on flights throughout the country until 09:30 Moscow time on October 2, amid the unstable situation in the region. The next day, a representative of the organization announced the extension of the ban until 04:30 Moscow time on October 3.
