Hurricane “Helen” in the United States: thousands of people were left without water

In the United States, Hurricane Helen destroyed the water supply systems of the city of Asheville, North Carolina, and as a result, about 100,000 people were deprived of drinking water.

According to the portal, some 100,000 Asheville residents could remain without drinking water for weeks. At the same time, post-hurricane flooding poses risks of mold growth, gastrointestinal illness, and dehydration. The state administration is working to restore the water supply, the population was advised to observe the strict rules of boiling and purifying water.

It should be remembered that it was previously reported that 175 people died in the United States as a result of Hurricane Helen. The highest number of victims was recorded in the state of North Carolina: 90 people. 36 people died in South Carolina, 25 in Georgia, 14 in Florida, 8 in Tennessee and two in Virginia.

According to experts from the financial company Moody’s Analytics, the economic damage from Hurricane Helen will amount to about 34 billion dollars.
