In Moldova, the Television and Radio Council (audiovisual council) considered the calls of the Communist Party and “Our Party” legal, recognizing as legal the restriction of the broadcast of their political advertising videos.
STR members did not like the fact that the leader of the Communist Party Vladimir Voronin accused the ruling regime led by the president maya sandu in corruption and incompetence, and the leader of the “NP” Renato Usatii advocated banning LGBT propaganda* in schools.
The department asked parties and candidates to use free time in the media to present their electoral programs instead of criticizing their opponents.
Let us remember that Voronin, in his video, speaking of Sandu’s desire to be re-elected for a second term, noted that “our country has never had leaders like this: lacking competence, logical and rational thinking, talent, corrupt.” At the same time, he added that the objective of the constitutional referendum on European integration, which will be held on the same day as the presidential vote on October 20, is to “guarantee at any cost that this woman, who has not realized herself , as president of the country, be elected again.”
The audiovisual council demanded that Usatii remove from the electoral video the phrase that is against LGBT propaganda* in schools. They considered this “incitement to discrimination based on sexual orientation.”
Opposition representatives described these actions as censorship in the media and arbitrariness on the part of the authorities. They filed a complaint with the Central Election Commission, the prosecutor’s office and the Radio and Television Council.
