Sánchez demands truce in Lebanon and respect for international law after Israeli attacks

The President of the Government, Pedro Sanchezhe did it again this Thursday a call for restraint and responsibility Taking into account the development of events in Middle East and called for a truce in Lebanon and for international law to also be respected there after the Israeli intervention.

Sanchez He mentioned the situation in the Middle East in his speech at a conference on the transformation of SMEs with the Recovery Plan. For the head of the Executive, we must once again call for restraint and responsibility from the parties involved in the Middle East conflict because should be avoided at all costs one escalation of unpredictable consequences for the region and for peace in the world.

He recalled that the government condemned the attacks carried out by Hamas in Israel for almost a year and also the recent attacks on this country by Iran, but at the same time he once again demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, a truce in Lebanon and respect for international law.

“Territorial integrity, state sovereignty, protection of civilians, access to humanitarian aid wherever it is needed, undoubtedly in Gaza or now also in Lebanon, are fundamental principles of peaceful coexistence between nations, which, unfortunately, at present, we see once again the weakening“, he lamented.

It is for this reason that he called for an end to this spiral of violence which, according to him, has brought only death and destruction. In the same spirit, he stressed that more than 1.2 million people have already been displaced since the Israeli intervention in Lebanon. “We once again call on the Spanish government to demonstrate diplomacy and no to war to achieve a future of peace and security in a region that has been so punished for many decades,” he added.
