They face ten years in prison for buying fake tickets sent from Austria to Valladolid by mail.

Ten years in prison and 300,000 euros fine. This is the sentence requested by the prosecution against two people who allegedly purchased counterfeit tickets arrived by mail from Austria at their home in Valladolid. The sender was arrested in his country and accused of bringing altered currency into Spain.

The events date back to 2018. In June of the same year, Austrian police arrested a man because he was engaged in the production and sale of fake invoices of 50, 20 and 10 euros which he sent by courier to people all over Europe. Among them, the two accused who will sit this Monday, October 7 in the dock at the Provincial Court of Valladolid.

The first of them, according to the prosecutor’s previous qualifications, would have bought 76 thousand tickets for “further distribution” which he would have paid with bitcoins to the aforementioned supplier. They arrived by mail in November and the fake 3,800 euros were seized the next day by the national police, when “the defendant voluntarily handed them over”.

In the second case, he is also credited with the purchase of tickets, in this case paid by credit card, to receive them at an address in Valladolid. However, the package was returned because it could not be delivered and was subsequently seized.

The invoices were reproduced with inkjet technology and on different paper than legitimate papers, but they were “simulated well.” “At first glance, they could be confused with the original”, underlines the public prosecutor
